Jeff
Cahill
Jeff has a BSc with a major
in Physics from Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia. He also has a
strong minor in Mathematics. Jeff's teaching qualification is a Diploma in
Education also from Murdoch University. His curriculum studies were in Science
Teaching and in Classroom Diagnostics.
Jeff is studying for a Masters degree at Edith Cowan University in Perth,
Western Australia. His current work is his research project that examines
techniques for scaffolding student learning in scientific communication.
Jeff Cahill is the Head of
the Science Department at Newman College in Perth, Western Australia. He teaches
upper secondary Physics classes and lower secondary General Science classes.
Newman College is a private co-educational secondary school with an enrolment of
approximately 1250 students. Students at Newman College are in Years 8 - 12 and
range in age from 12 to 18 years.
Jeff is a member of the editorial board of SCIOS. SCIOS is the journal of the
Science Teachers' Association of Western Australia (STAWA). STAWA is a large
organization of science education professionals from the primary, secondary, and
tertiary education sectors.
As a member of the Physics Syllabus Committee of the Curriculum Council of
Western Australia, Jeff is involved in the decision-making process that
determines the syllabus content and direction of upper secondary Physics courses
in Western Australia.
Reed Educational employs Jeff to write and review Science curriculum materials
for publication throughout Australia. Jeff is the co-author of a set of general
science textbooks and a set of upper secondary Physics textbooks. |
