Details:

Requirements on Sensor and Torch

  • Use two sets of p.a. Torch, light sensor, and computer.
  • Position one torch above the other, and likewise one sensor above the other (you can make use of a stack of books to do so as demonstrated in the figure shown in Game 3 of the Starter Kit Manual).
  • Make sure that the top torch and the top sensing unit are on the same level and face each other. Likewise the bottom torch and sensing unit.
  • The height of the bottom torch must be above 30cm.
  • Keep both the distance between the top torch and the top light sensor, and that between the bottom torch and light sensor at 150 cm.
  • Set the brightness accordingly.

How to play

  • Start from one side of the torchlight with both feet, but not any other part of your body, on the floor.
  • Move to the other side of the torchlight.
  • Start the game by moving the circular ring towards the sensing unit in a straight line such that it does not obstruct the torchlight in the process.
  • It is a success if in the entire process of moving:
    • None of the two brightness alarms is triggered;
    • When the whole or a part of your body is on the side where you start, not a single part of your body besides your foot/feet touches the floor.
    • When the whole or a part of your body is on the other side of the torchlight, not a single part of your body besides your foot/feet touches the floor.
    • Each and every part of your body remains within the straight line cutting through the tip of the torch and the straight line cutting through the sensing unit, of which both are perpendicular to the torchlight.

The Score

  • The score is the distance between the two torches round to the nearest cm.
  • The lower the score is, the better.
